Gen Z Voters Disapprove of Biden

Joe Biden is losing support from key constituencies he needs for his re-election effort.

58% of Americans disapprove of President Biden, including 53% of Gen Z voters — a group Biden won by over 30 points in 2020.

Meanwhile, the cost of living remains the top issue for voters by a wide margin, followed by jobs, gun control, and corruption in government.

  • The number of Americans citing national security/terrorism in their top three issues jumped 6 points from July.

The cost of living remains the most important issue for Americans.

  • 44% of Americans picked the cost of living as one of their top three most important issues from a list of 20 available choices.
  • Jobs (20%) and gun control (20%) were the next most important issues – the latter driven by 34% of Democrats.
  • Since July, there has been a 6-point increase in voters picking national security/terrorism as one of their most important issues, and a 4-point increase in voters picking government spending/debt.

Voters overwhelmingly believe the country is on the wrong track.

  • 72% of voters believe the country is on the wrong track – consistent with our recent results. 
  • This includes 89% of Republicans, 49% of Democrats, and 80% of independents.
  • 80% of America’s New Majority voters believe the country is on the wrong track.

58% disapprove of President Biden.

  • This includes 53% of Gen Z voters — a group Biden won by over 30 points in 2020.
  • 62% of swing voters disapprove of President Biden.
  • 73% of America’s New Majority voters disapprove of President Biden.   

Republicans hold a 4-point lead on the generic ballot.

  • This is a narrower margin than over the past few months, but larger than the 1-point margin recorded during the ouster of Speaker Kevin McCarthy.
  • Republicans lead with swing voters 42%-34%.
  • Republicans lead with America’s New Majority voters 59%-21%.
