Impact of Potential TikTok Ban on Gen Z’s support for Joe Biden

Fifty-five percent of Gen Z voters oppose legislation signed by President Biden that would ban TikTok in the United States unless it is sold to a U.S. company.

  • 21% are now much less likely to vote for him in the 2024 election due to this stance.

WHY IT MATTERS
The 2020 presidential election was decided by fewer than 44,000 votes in key swing states. In that election, Joe Biden won the support of 65% of Gen Z voters. In 2024, his support for legislation seeking to ban TikTok threatens to eliminate one-third of these voters.

HOW TO USE THIS DATA
The results reveal a potent issue to communicate to Gen Z voters to erode Joe Biden’s support.
