Most Effective Way to Advocate for Extending Trump Tax Cuts

Polling by America’s New Majority Project reveals strong bipartisan support for President-elect Trump’s plan to prevent a federal tax increase in 2025 by extending the 2017 tax cuts he signed into law during his first term. However, describing it as preventing a tax increase gets more support than describing it as extending the tax cut.

WHY IT MATTERS

The tax cuts from the 2017 law are set to expire in 2025 without reauthorization from Congress. President-elect Donald J. Trump ran on an economic platform of lower taxes, including extending the low tax rates for individuals and businesses he signed into law during his first term.

HOW TO USE THIS DATA

Advocates for extending the tax cuts should consider shifting their language to emphasize stopping the tax increase.
